This Privacy Policy explains how TheWait (“the App”) handles your information. The App is designed to be calm, minimal, and privacy-respecting.
- No account required.
- No ads. We do not sell your data.
- No tracking. We do not track you across apps or websites.
- Your countdown data is stored on your device (and may be included in your iCloud device backup if enabled).
Information We Collect
TheWait does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or advertising identifiers.
Countdown Data (On-device)
The App stores the information you enter (for example: event titles, dates, icons, themes, and any optional notes) locally on your device. This data is used only to provide the core functionality of the App.
Photos (Optional)
If you choose to add a photo to an event, the App will request access using Apple’s Photos picker. TheWait only accesses the photo(s) you explicitly select. Selected images are stored on-device and used to render your event.
Location & Weather (Optional)
If you choose to enable weather for an event, you may optionally add a location (e.g., a city). TheWait does not track your real-time location. Location is only used to fetch a weather summary near the event date. Weather results are cached on-device for performance and to reduce network usage.
Weather requests may be sent to a weather data provider to return forecast information. These requests typically include approximate coordinates or a place identifier and may include standard technical data (such as IP address) that your device sends as part of normal internet communication.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, TheWait uses Apple’s local notification system to schedule notifications on your device. Notification permissions are controlled by you in iOS Settings. TheWait does not receive the content of your notifications.
Purchases (Subscriptions / Premium)
If you purchase Premium or Premium+, payments are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. TheWait does not receive your payment details. Apple may provide the App with purchase verification information to unlock features.
Analytics
TheWait does not use third-party advertising SDKs. If the App uses basic internal counters (for example: how many times a paywall was shown) these metrics are stored locally and are not used to identify you.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes. We only share data when required to provide optional features you enable (such as weather lookups) or when required by law.
Data Retention
Your event data remains on your device until you delete it in the App or remove the App from your device. If iCloud device backups are enabled, Apple may include App data in backups under your control.
Your Choices
- Notifications: Manage in iOS Settings → Notifications → TheWait
- Photos: You choose which photos to share via the system picker
- Location/Weather: Optional per event; you can remove the saved location anytime
- Delete Data: Delete events in the App or uninstall the App
Children’s Privacy
TheWait is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date above.
